Hey everyone,i just wanted to give anyone starting or inthe middle of lveling a thief abou some stats.Alot of thiefs i notice try to get as much Evasion + equipement as they can.The thing is.....why? As a thief in a party you don't need a ton of evasion. If evasion is capped already then you don't really need to make it apoint to get gear just for the Evasion+.What a thief should concentrate on is getting there Dex and Agi as high as possible. The majority of our weapon skills are based on either dex or agi.SATA is based on Dex/Agi.The higher your dex and agi are the more damage you will put out.We as thiefs shouldn't be tanking the mob after the pull so concentrating on Evasion + gear is a waste.Think about it.

vili sneak attack and trick attack are affected by your dex/agi, and also a few of the dagger weaponskills

wiki.ffxiclopedia.org For those who are too lazy to click the linky, Viper Bite has no modifiers; however, seeing as it is commonly used in conjunction with SATA to close distortion, it would be advisable to stack up on DEX and AGI as those greatly modift SATA damage.

Make sure to favor DEX over AGI. DEX is the main modifier for Sneak Attack. Also, AGI affects Trick Attack so little, that many people are starting to disbelieve the theory about AGI and Trick Attack.

when you get to lvl 60 you get the job trait Assassin, which makes TA similar to SA (100% critical hit). at that point you can see the difference a lot better with +AGI gear. i would suggest that you would go all out on DEX until 60 and then add in some AGI.
watching it from an experienced view you usually start the fight with TA WS (post 60) to give hate to the tank. after lvl 60 most thieves separate SATA to do more damage. also because it is a lot easier to only TA WS than to have a voke order in a party
