Hello all, I thought I'd take the liberty of making a sticky containing useful links relating to FFXI, as there have been several passing through the forums recently.
I will be updating this thread, so if any good stuff crops up in other threads or on your travels, post it here or let me know and I'll get it done
The List:
***The Three Bigs Ones***
Allakhazam
ffxi.allakhazam.com
Killing Ifrit
www.killvoid.com
Somepage
ffxi.somepage.com
You will have come across these three before, but I thought I'd put them in for good measure. They are all extremely informative and very expansive. I regularly check allakhazam (heck, its my homepage ) and often the forums for tips on equipment and playing my job or whatever. I have to mention that a lot of the stuff on the forums is just flaming and trolling, so be careful, but there's a lot of experienced players out there who just want to help.
They all have much of same info, e.g. missions, quests, crafting lists etc. but they each shine in different areas.
Allakhazam is good for surfing forums, mission and quests (they have threads for each which people generally post strategies on). The equipment listing on this is also very good, with threads on each piece.
Killing Ifrit's forums are a bit elitist and unhelpful, but their AF listing along with coffer and chest maps are something I use often. They also have a nice video forums, check it out for some FFXI related entertainment
Somepage I don't use so often, but it has good food listings with effects. They also have, in my opinion, the better listing on crafting recipes.
Miscellaneous
Vana'diel atlas
www.ffxi-atlas.com/
Simply put; Maps. All the maps of FFXI you'll ever need. Excellent to print out for those nasty dungeons you don't wanna do the quest/get the coffer for. I have checked and they have added maps for Aht Urhgan areas, so I presume it is regularly updated.
Aht Urhgan Campsites
ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10;mid=1148690064229097635;num=20;page=1
For those of you with ToAU, you may want to look at this. Plenty of extra camps to go to when the old areas are full, and in many cases you could choose them over going to the old areas for reasons like sanction xp bonus, refresh and meal duration, and fast pop rates. (e.g. puks or lesser colibri in Wajaom Woodlands).
Campsite calculator:
campsitarus.blogspot.com/
I know there's a link from bregan.info but I thought it was worth putting here, as it really is very useful and informative. An excellent find from Paman
Stat Calculator:
www.datasync.com/~dsmith/FFXIStats/
Another find from Paman; This site lets you see what your stats would be at a certain level. A useful feature is the dual-column layout, so you can finally put to rest the STR bonus from /WAR or whatever it is you want to know
Skill Lookup Tables:
www.ausystem.org/~aushacho/gbox/ff/skill-e.html
I had been looking for one of these, and I find one browsing through the guide forums! Kudos to Mystryl for this one; basically you can lookup what your skill is gonna be at for what level, what skills your job naturally has, and skill ratings and so forth. Just what I was looking for!
FFXIclopedia:
wiki.ffxiclopedia.org
This site is has lots of information on various areas of FFXI, but the key thing I'm putting it in for is the weapon skills listing; it tells you the modifiers for stats and TP on each weaponskill. Very good for choosing what gear to macro in for WS and whatnot
FFXIah (auction house):
www.ffxiah.com
This site can show you the price history for any item on any server; which, in my opinion, is an extremely powerful tool. Obviously most useful for those with windower, so you can access it whilst not in jeuno. Also, a controversial feature is that you can search for Auction house history for specific characters; be warned, you are being watched at all times! ;D
AF+1 and Limbus info
rukenshin.livejournal.com/11335.html
For those of you who are interesting in Limbus and the items you can obtain there, this site is a useful and clear reference. Lists all the AF+1 with the items you need to make it. enjoy!
FFXIplayers
www.ffxiplayers.com/cpg1.2.1_standalone/index.php
A nice little site. Browse through pictures of others who play FFXI, look through those on your server and see the men/women behind the sprites!
ProjectXI
projectxi.sourceforge.net/
For those who are wondering, there is an FFXI emulator in the making. Its slow going at the moment, but here's the link to their forum if you want to find out how its going
Windower/Parallel running with FFXI related
Windower homepage:
ffxi.archbell.com
I'm sure a lot of you use this already, and I can't imagine how I ever managed without it. Basically, it runs FFXI in a window. Extremely useful; get it now! (On a side note, DO NOT call a GM with this running as you will most likely be suspended or banned without second thought)
Log Parser:
www.frontiernet.net/~Spyle/FFXI/ffxi.html
This one is for those DDs amongst you that just -have- to know that they do that little bit more per hit than the DRK or have better accuracy than your WAR friend, or whatever it is. Basically, it's an application that runs parallel to FFXI and reads your log as it scrolls by, picking out certain things that you want to know, i.e. i think the default is damage per battle and melee accuracy, etc. NOTE: I recommend using Windower with this, although I believe if you start it up and then login it can work; however, this will log all damage, including for example if you kill some aggro on the way to a camp.
Pyogenes Timer
www.pyogenes.com/ffxi/timer/pyog-timer.html
An excellent site; tells you when airships and boats arrive, tells you about days and elements, tells you about guild opening hours, and more. Check it out
