For those that dont know, this is the one where you 'can' get a peacock charm, though, I should add at this point that the drop is somewhat rare, so make suer you have backup orbs if youre going on a run ^^ The other day I did about 9-10 runs, cant remember exactly how much, ofthis BCNM, and I only lost once which was because someone fluffed their macros, and engaged instead of doing something else >.< Its fairly easy, so Ill post my strategy here:
-> Make sure you have 2 NINs, (make sure they are good blink tankers, you dont want them getting hit early on) with capped, or near capped Ninjitsu skill for level 40 - youll find most Ninjas worth their salt will have accomplished this during XP parties You may want to check they are familiar with the elemental wheel and have plenty of tools ( a stack of each should suffice for a standard run). It is advisable to have the NINs sub BLM or RDM and take some INT+ gear to make it that much smoother.
-> The third person needs to be a skilled kiter, ideally, you would want a SMN or BST, we used a BST then later a BLU as the BST ran out of orbs; both worked perfectly fine, though the BLU hada couple of close calls. For the other slot, you could use many things, but as long as it has something which will allow it to kite effectively, it should be ok.
-> If you feel in danger, bring potions, but i never brought any and I was fine every time.
-> Now to the strategy! Make sure you all have your 40 seal orbs (star orbs) and head on over to the Horlais Peak burning circle. For those who don't know the way, zone into Ghelsba Outpost from West Ronfaure, and once you reach the first open area, turn left, and stick left. Youll reach Yughott Grotto before long. This is fairly linear, so head through until you zone to Fort Ghelsba. Head straight through the tent and up the ramp that curves left, go across the next open area and up another curving ramp. Youll reach an area with another hut, go through and zone the other side. Another linear room, there will be two exits, one north one south. Take the north, and youre home free.
-> Now youre ready to go. Do whatever you want to choose who goes first and let them trade their orb to the burning circle. (At this point youll be kicking yourself if you didnt bring lvl 40 gear XD, so make sure beforehand) Select 'Under Observation' and get the other two to zone in as well.
-> Right, so youre in, and the dramatic music is playing. Calm your nerves, get used to it, take your time. Buff up, eat food, get shadows up, etc. If you got a SMN or BST, get them to get a pet out and be ready.
-> Go up and the ramp and dont enter the burning circle until everyone is present and ready. The first thing you want is for the kiter or kiter's pet to engage the central mob (Sobbing Eyes, I believe its called), and run back down the ramp as fast as their legs can carry them At this point, the other two will have started to follow your kiter, so you will have wanted to pick who fight the left and who fight the right mob. Select your chosen mob in advance (NINs) and smack it with some Ninjitsu ^^ This should get hate no matter what. Now you want to run over to the respective side of the burning circle and get motoring.
-> This part is crucial: NINs, you MUST keep your back turned to these mobs, they have a paralysis attack which will own you if you get it on you. Keep your back to it, and spam your elemental wheel, keeping shadows up as necessary. Id like to point out, this is not a gruelling task, but they have some strong magic so make sure you ahve shadows up at all times. Moderate evasion gear will keep you safe from melee attacks. You will find these mobs go down fairly quickly.
->Once your mob is dead, let the other members know. When they are both dead, immediately let the kiter know it is time to bring the main mob back. It will take a moment, so keep shadows up and get ready.
-> This strategy will involve quick thinking to pull you through. It dies fast, not as fast as the others, but fast nonetheless. It has the same paralysis attack, so when attacking keep your back turned. The strategy is simple yet you must stick to it; get one NIN to use his wheel and stick to the edge of the arena. The other NIN needs to keep away, on the other side. Once the other NIN is done, run in and smack it with some Ninjitsu, once you pull hate, you want to keep it away from your other party members. This will not take long, but you need to keep out of AoE range for two VERY important reasons:
- Firaga. It hurts, and it caused our only failure.
- Breakga. Its AoE petrify. You will not be able to do anything for a little while, maybe 20-30 seconds if you get hit with this, so its important to avoid it if you can.
-> Other than those two things, it shouldnt be too difficult, make suer you avoid AoE, share the tanking, if the kiter has healing magic, itll give you even more chance. Dont be afraid of dying, one time, it was just me and I won it for us ^^ So stay positive. Once youve killed the Sobbing Eyes, open the chest and reap the rewards!
Noteable Drops: Peacock Charm, Utsusemi: Ni, Erase, Phalanx
Other moderately interesting Drops: Grudge Sword, Refresh, Tilt Belt.
Enjoy, and Good luck to all
